Chet Hanks took to his Instagram story on Monday, sharing a light-hearted exchange with his famous father, Tom Hanks, about the ongoing feud between Kendrick Lamar and Drake.
Tom, curious about the beef, texted Chet asking for clarification on the matter. Chet, not one to skimp on details, responded with a comprehensive breakdown that couldn’t fit into a single screenshot.
He explained that the feud originated when J. Cole dubbed himself, Drake, and Lamar the “big three” in rap, prompting Lamar to dispute this claim in a track by declaring, “It’s just big me.”
The tension escalated with diss tracks from both artists, with Chet noting that Lamar systematically dismantled Drake’s persona and even accused him of inappropriate behavior with young girls. He likened one of Lamar’s diss tracks to the electric atmosphere of a high school basketball game in Oakland.
Tom’s response, captured in the screenshot, reflected his surprise and curiosity about the feud’s dynamics and which side was prevailing.
Chet, amused by his dad’s inquiry, jokingly reminded him of the details he had just shared, adding playful emojis. He had previously emphasized that Lamar’s diss track solidified the victory for the West Coast rapper.
Chet, known for his appearances in films like “Greyhound” and TV shows like “Shameless,” has had his share of viral moments, including his “White Boy Summer” declaration and subsequent song release.
Reflecting on growing up with celebrity parents in a 2022 YouTube video, Chet acknowledged the advantages and occasional oddities of his upbringing, expressing a newfound sense of self-assurance and authenticity.
